Ladies Writing and Vanity Table by Jules Leleu, circa 1950s (ON HOLD)

A Ladies’ Writing and Vanity Table by Jules Leleu, circa 1950s

A beautifully proportioned piece of furniture, forming a vanity and desk combined. The middle lifts to reveal a compartment and inset mirror. The front features a decorative diamond marquetry pattern, including a drawer on either side, each finished with a gilded bronze leaf handle, resting on four tapered legs ending in brass sabots.

From the mid-1940s to the late 1950s, Leleu produced a small number of writing vanity tables, each one made to order to the specifications of the client, the most notable commission being for the bedroom of Madame Henry Roussel.
