Guglielmo Ulrich for Valzania Parchment Drinks Cabinet 1930s

US$0.00
sold out

An important early 1930s drinks cabinet designed by Italian architect Guglielmo Ulrich, for Valzania. This dramatic piece of handcrafted furniture represents the luxury, glamour and exuberance of the period. The bold geometric forms and decorative brass fittings reflect the influence of Cubist and tribal art while the spare elegance of the overall design is heightened with the use of veneered panels of pale parchment . The interior is mirrored throughout, reflecting a polished black onyx base and a single glass shelf.

Ulrich was an architect and designer of Danish and Italian origin and was responsible for founding the renowned furnishing company Arca. His unique approach to design was informed by his training as an architect and was instrumental in defining the movement away from Art Deco toward a sparer industrial style while still utilising high quality materials and finish.

Final image shows a related example of furniture from the series taken from an article in World of Interiors.

Dimensions: 16"H, 68.5"W, 58.5"H
